Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

This website (the "Site") is the personal portfolio of Reehan ("I", "me", "my"), a creative technologist based in Milan, Italy. By accessing or using the Site you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the Site.

2. Purpose of the Site

The Site exists to present my work across architecture and interiors, photography, writing and digital design, and to allow prospective clients and collaborators to get in touch. Nothing on the Site constitutes professional, legal, financial or architectural advice, nor an offer capable of acceptance, unless expressly agreed in a separate written engagement.

3. Intellectual property

All content on the Site — including text, photographs, drawings, designs, layouts, logos, and source code — is owned by me or used with permission and is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You may view and share links to the Site for personal, non-commercial reference. You may not reproduce, republish, sell, or create derivative works from any content without my prior written consent.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Site in any way that is unlawful, that infringes the rights of others, or that could damage, disable or impair the Site or interfere with anyone else's use of it. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site or its underlying systems.

5. Enquiries and commissions

Contacting me through the Site does not create a client relationship. Any commission or project is governed exclusively by a separate written agreement setting out scope, fees, timelines, ownership and deliverables. Until such an agreement is signed, no obligations arise on either side.

6. Third-party links

The Site links to external sites and platforms (for example LinkedIn, Instagram, Substack and project deployments hosted on Netlify). I am not responsible for the content, availability or privacy practices of those third parties, and links do not imply endorsement.

7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site, or from reliance on any content it contains. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Changes and governing law

I may update these terms from time to time; the version published on the Site at the time of your visit applies. These terms are governed by the laws of Italy, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Milan. Questions may be sent to reehanulkarima@gmail.com.

Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for personal data collected through this Site is Reehan, based in Milan, Italy, reachable at reehanulkarima@gmail.com. This policy explains what personal data is collected, why, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Italian data-protection law.

2. What data is collected

This is a static portfolio and collects as little as possible. If you contact me by email, phone or social media, I receive the details you choose to share — typically your name, contact details and the content of your message. When you browse, my hosting provider may process limited technical data such as your IP address, browser type and pages requested, in server logs used for security and reliability.

3. How and why it is used

I use the information you send solely to respond to your enquiry, to discuss and deliver a possible commission, and to keep necessary records. Technical log data is used to operate, secure and improve the Site. I do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling, and I do not sell it.

4. Legal basis for processing

I process your data on the basis of your consent (when you reach out to me), the performance of, or steps toward, a contract (when we discuss a project), and my legitimate interest in maintaining a secure and functional website. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it at any time.

5. Analytics: Google Analytics

With your consent, this Site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-D0MVPGYL3Y) to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use it — for example which pages are viewed, an approximate city-level location derived from a shortened IP address, and general device, browser and referral information. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store your full IP address. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), requested through the cookie banner; analytics run only after you choose “Accept”, and Google Consent Mode v2 keeps them disabled by default until then. The service is provided by Google Ireland Limited acting as a processor on my behalf, and data may be transferred to the United States under Google’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Google retains this analytics data for [PLACEHOLDER: confirm your GA4 data-retention setting — default 2 months, configurable up to 14 months]. You can withdraw consent at any time using the “Cookie settings” control shown on every page, or by clearing your cookies; withdrawal stops further collection and clears the analytics cookies.

6. Sharing and third parties

The Site is hosted by third-party infrastructure providers (such as Netlify) who process technical data on my behalf as processors. Email and messaging providers handle correspondence you initiate. I share personal data only where necessary to provide these services, to comply with the law, or with your consent. Some providers may process data outside the EEA under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Retention

I keep enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your request and, where a project follows, for the duration of our engagement plus any period required by law or for legitimate record-keeping. Server logs are retained only for a short period by the hosting provider.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email reehanulkarima@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

9. Security, children and changes

I take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, though no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. The Site is not directed at children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their data. I may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page.

Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, which a site can use to remember small preferences between visits. They can be "essential" (needed for the site to work) or "non-essential" (for analytics or personalisation).

2. How this Site uses them

This portfolio sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. It uses two kinds of storage: essential preference storage kept in your browser to remember small interface preferences — such as your last viewing position and your cookie choice — which never leaves your device; and, only if you agree, Google Analytics cookies that measure how the Site is used. On your first visit a banner asks you to Accept or Reject analytics: nothing analytical is set until you Accept, and you can change your mind at any time through the “Cookie settings” control.

3. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)

When you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 (property G-D0MVPGYL3Y) sets first-party cookies — typically named _ga and _ga_<id> — to distinguish visitors and sessions and measure aggregate usage. They are set only after you consent and are governed by Google Consent Mode v2, which keeps analytics storage disabled by default. The analytics data Google holds is retained for [PLACEHOLDER: confirm your GA4 data-retention setting — default 2 months, up to 14 months]. If you reject, or later withdraw consent via “Cookie settings”, these cookies are not set and any existing ones are cleared.

4. Third-party cookies

The hosting provider may set a strictly necessary cookie for security and load balancing. If you follow a link to an external platform (LinkedIn, Instagram, Substack, or a hosted project), that platform sets its own cookies under its own policy, over which I have no control.

5. Managing cookies

You can control or delete cookies and clear local storage through your browser settings, and set your browser to refuse cookies. Because this Site relies only on essential and preference storage, disabling them will not break core functionality, though some conveniences may be lost.

6. Updates and contact

If the Site's use of cookies changes, this policy will be updated with a new date. For any question about cookies or the handling of your data, contact reehanulkarima@gmail.com.
